Beyond the Screen
Communities for causes.
The brief
Showcase Facebook as a place where communities use it to make positive impact in the real world.
The strategy
Tell the stories of some of the incredible groups and remarkable young people who use the site as ‘activists’ around their causes and who have then taken those causes “beyond the screen” and into real life… Making sure there was a variety of editorial themes to take to media.
The idea
Create a feature film made up of a series of 6 short films (and a whole load of assets along the way), showcasing six remarkable groups and their young leaders, across the UK.
Holding a London premiere of the feature film, ‘Facebook Presents: Beyond the Screen’, inviting group admins, media, policymakers and senior Facebook execs… with the help of Edith Bowman as the host.
And finally partnering with Everyman cinemas to release the film nationwide.
The results
Over 40 quality pieces of coverage throughout the campaign, including in-depth broadcast pieces on Sky News Radio, BBC Radio Scotland and ITV, national hits with the likes of Metro and the Guardian, whilst reaching our target audience with consumer titles such as TimeOut and the Londonist.
